Are you an experienced coach or mentor? Are you undertaking or facilitating supervision?
We know the importance of coaches and mentors being up-to-date and up-skilled for best practice. We are delighted to offer an Institute Approved Coach/ Mentor Supervision Training programme that will equip you with the knowledge and the techniques you require to practice as a competent and confident coach/mentor supervisor.
With the increasing demand for coaching services in different sectors, there is a growing need for professional standards, accountability, and continuous improvement. Coaching supervision plays a crucial role in ensuring that coaches receive the necessary support, guidance, and reflective practice to excel in their roles and make a positive impact on their clients’ lives.
Regardless of their experience, coaches can benefit greatly from supervision. It provides them with continuous skill development, sharing of knowledge, and support from peers.
“Coaching supervision is a formal process of professional support which ensures the continuing development of the coach and effectiveness of his/her coaching practice through interactive reflection, interpretive evaluation and sharing of expertise”
– Bachkirova, Stevens and Willis, 2005
Our 3-day programme is aimed at qualified and experienced coaches and mentors who are supporting and providing other coaches and mentors with 1:1 and peer group supervision. It is ideal for those leading/managing an internal Coaching and/or Mentoring offer within an organisation in establishing a system of peer supervision.
Supervision provides a unique environment for coaches to improve their coaching skills. It enables coaches to discuss their cases, challenges, and successes confidentially and safely, whilst also being an opportunity to provide valuable feedback, insights, and exploration of their coaching techniques, approach, and interactions with clients.
In addition to supporting individual coaches, coaching supervision also contributes to the overall quality and credibility of a coaching offering – be it within an organisation or external practice. Supervision can serve as a safeguard for ethical conduct and professional integrity within the coaching profession. It does this by providing a space for coaches to discuss ethical dilemmas, boundary issues, and personal biases that may arise in their practice.
For those leading or managing an internal coaching and/or mentoring offer within an organisation, it is particularly important. Investing in supervision is not only a way for organisations to maximise the effectiveness of coaching and coaches within their organisation, but it is also an ideal way to establish and sustain best coaching practices in the long term.
We have heard from internal coaches that supervision training has helped them to maintain a level of consistency and high standards within their coaching work. Some reported previously experiencing complex coaching relationships – including conflict, confidentiality issues, and overfamiliarity – because their coachees are also their colleagues. Supervision training can help to resolve these issues, supporting coaches to navigate interpersonal dynamics safely and effectively.
As the coaching landscape evolves, the importance of coaching supervision grows. It ensures excellence, integrity, and continuous improvement of coaches. By providing coaches with the necessary support, guidance, and reflective practice, supervision helps them to thrive and make a positive and lasting impact – on their clients and their organisation.
